Wild Land: A Journey to the Earth’s Last Wilds
Available for the first time in a new, smaller format, readers can now enjoy the global bestseller by Peter and Beverly Pickford, acclaimed wildlife photographers: Wild Land: A Journey to the Earth’s Last Wilds. It accompanies the release of Wild Ocean and both make beautiful additions to our hideaways, to be enjoyed by guests from around the globe.
‘This book . . . gives me the most hope. The authors had to travel to the farthest corners of the earth to find the bounty, vitality and ferocity of a natural world still struggling with each day’s merciful rising and setting.’
The New York Times Book Review
‘The beauty of some of the most untouched places on the planet and the incredible wildlife that inhabit them have been captured in a stunning new photography collection.’
Sunday Telegraph
‘This book about wild land and wildlife is also the fascinating tale of the Pickford’s own adventures once they chose to devote their lives to the search for untouched wilderness areas. And most of all, this unique book also expresses the timely and urgent message to protect wilderness areas for future generations and for the future of our planet.’

ABOUT THE CURATOR & AUTHOR
Peter and Beverly Pickford are professional wildlife photographers, committed conservationists, and inveterate travellers and explorers. Both born and educated in South Africa, their work has carried them across all of earth’s continents to produce eleven books, among them the best-selling Forever Africa: A Journey from the Cape of Good Hope to Morocco and award-winning Wild Land: A Journey to the Earth’s Last Wilds.
When not on assignment, they live in a nature reserve they have established on the west coast of South Africa, surfing, hiking, and kayaking in the company of the thousands of seabirds and seals they have helped to protect. Images from Wild Ocean will be donated to support and assist individuals and NGOs working to create and expand marine-protected areas around the world.
The joy of discovering a design or colour that speaks to you, is as moving as the evocative power of smell… wood smoke, the salty tang of the sea, the warm aroma of baking cakes, the lingering scent of a fragrant candle. They all bring back happy memories.
‘Life is simply better when surrounded by beautiful things,’ says curator Helen Untiedt, co-founder of Perfect Hideaways. Let your instinct guide you… if you love it now, it will always a favourite in your home!
