In the five years since the second book was published, the world has significantly changed. A new narrative on how we travel, our incentives for long getaways and the time we choose to spend, surrounded by our chosen people, has become paramount. Like that proverbial leopard, we’ve not changed many of our spots. Perfect Hideaways’ passion for seeking out the most extraordinary havens that offer unique experiences, remains intact.
The third edition of our esteemed book features properties and unique destinations that represent the chrysalis of our country’s clime, reshaping our architecture, restyling our interiors and redefining travel. From the oceanfront to the open plains, the mountain rivers to the wildlife reserves, the semi-desert dwellings to the sprawling farmlands, this book showcases an exceptional range of destinations, that’ll satiate every voracious voyager.
By virtue of their spectacular settings, a stay in these exclusive residences, farms and retreats will create lifelong memories. Where the pace is slower, the sky a little bluer and the holiday experience eternal.

ABOUT THE CURATOR & AUTHOR
Helen Untiedt is the co-founder of Perfect Hideaways – a property portfolio of beach bungalows, country homesteads, farm cottages, mountain retreats, wildlife conservancies and boutique hotels – together with her husband, David. Born with a passion for travel and adventure, Helen spent many years sailing and traversing the globe, exploring the continents and experiencing different cultures. From the beginning, Helen’s vision for Perfect Hideaways was to curate a portfolio of homes that offer fabulous locations, incredible architecture and beautifully layered interiors. Places that make one feel held in the space, delivering a holiday experience that surpasses the ordinary. ‘When I walk into a house, I know almost instantly if it will make it into the portfolio.’, Helen says. ‘It’s not just visual, it’s also visceral; a home must hold a palpable sense of the thought, creativity and love that has been poured into it.’
